The basis of network marketing is above all about telling a story. Story-telling is one of the oldest and long-lasting selling approaches, and we are always selling something, our image, our products, etc. When you tell a story, do it from your own perspective or from your experience, and you’ll find that this approach influences people in a more powerful and subtle way than any direct selling technique. For example, let’s say you are promoting a carpet cleaner. You might start a conversation by dealing with your spring cleaning that you began last month. Every year you go through the same schedule: dusting, brushing, when you noticed a challenging stain on your carpet that refused to budge. So you mentioned that you finally used the most suitable product to get rid of the stain. You pause a little before mentioning the actual product. Your interested listener, impatient, finally queries, “What did you use to remove the stain?” And that’s your entrance. Discuss how long you’ve been using the product, and the wide variety of purposes to which you’ve put it to test and pretty soon your listener will ask for a sample.
The content when you make a presentation or when you post an article on your blog should be honest and helpful. The information can either be subjective in nature or can remain objective by simply specifying the features of the products and offering other concrete pieces of information as opposed to opinions of the products.
Another tip is to do your research when it comes to the keywords you want to rank for. Some network marketer out there are talking a lot about optimizing some of your writings (articles, blog posts, press releases etc.) for the term network marketing scams. This is however a sword with 2 edges. Going after keywords such as “network marketing scams” is a bad idea because you will be attracting doubtful, fearful, negative people which are very hard to convince.
